Welcome back to Huntington Drive Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year! Led by Principal Luis Velasco, our dedicated team is eager to partner with families to foster a nurturing environment where every child thrives intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

This year, alongside our strong foundation in state standards, we are placing an extra focus on hands-on science exploration and expressive writing projects to inspire curiosity and bold ideas. Beyond academics, we emphasize character development by daily modeling respect, kindness, and leadership.

We believe open communication is key to student success and encourage parents to stay connected through Schoology, ClassDojo, monthly newsletters, and our school website. Mark your calendars for our first day of school on Wednesday, August 12, at 8:00 AM, and join us for Back-to-School Night on Tuesday, September 1, from 4:15 – 6:00 PM. Check your welcome packet for tentative classroom assignments, policies, and calendar details. We look forward to an amazing year of growth and learning together!

The Parent/Student Handbook for the 2025-26 school year is an important resource for understanding school and district policies, procedures, and available resources. It can be downloaded from the Division School of Operations Website. A limited number of physical copies will also be available at the school in the next few weeks. Families are encouraged to review the handbook, and any questions can be directed to the school at 323-223-1336.

Just a friendly reminder that while Spring Break is a time to relax and recharge, there will be some light homework available to help students stay sharp for end-of-year assessments and California state testing.

The assignments can be easily accessed on I-Ready through your child's Schoology account. They are designed to be manageable and engaging, taking minimal time away from your family's well-deserved break.

We encourage you to discuss the importance of continued learning with your child, but remember, the focus is on quality time together!
